Our Commitment

At Skill Samurai Lane Cove, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and take all allegations and concerns seriously. Every person involved in our organisation has a responsibility to understand the important role they play in protecting children.

Safe Environment

We maintain a physically and emotionally safe learning environment for all students.

Trained Staff

All staff undergo child safety training and hold valid Working With Children Checks.

Open Communication

We encourage children to speak up and listen to their concerns.

Clear Procedures

We have documented procedures for handling concerns and incidents.

Staff Requirements

All staff and volunteers at Skill Samurai Lane Cove:

  • Hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Complete child safety training before commencing work
  • Undergo reference checks prior to employment
  • Participate in ongoing child safety education
  • Adhere to our Code of Conduct

Online Safety

As a coding and technology education provider, we take online safety seriously:

  • Our computers have content filtering and monitoring software
  • Students are supervised during all online activities
  • We teach digital citizenship and online safety as part of our curriculum
  • Student work is saved securely and not shared publicly without consent
  • We do not allow personal social media use during classes

Photography and Recording

Regarding photos and videos of students:

  • We obtain written consent before photographing or recording students
  • Photos used for marketing are carefully selected and approved
  • Students are not individually identified in public materials without explicit consent
  • Parents may opt out of photography at any time

Pickup and Drop-off

For student safety during transitions:

  • Students must be signed in by a parent/guardian or authorised adult
  • Only authorised persons listed on the enrolment form may collect students
  • Photo ID may be requested for unfamiliar pickup persons
  • Students will not be released to unknown persons

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

We ask parents and guardians to:

  • Keep emergency contact information up to date
  • Inform us of any relevant health or safety concerns
  • Communicate any changes to pickup arrangements
  • Report any concerns about child safety promptly
  • Support our child safety policies and procedures
